How to use our Colour Bags
Share
There are endless possibilities of play with our Colour Bags and you can truly just go with the flow as there is no rules or structure when playing with this product. The Colour Bags were designed to make play time more accessible anywhere at anytime.
We thought we would share 5 ways you can use our Colour Bags with your little one.
1. Naming and sorting items
One colour at a time, pull out, for example, the lemon and ask your baby what it is and/or what colour it is. Once they have named or described the item, ask them to put the item next to them or behind them or in their lap. These simple instructions help your little one learn words like infront or behind, left or right. They are still so young that directions will still be a little tricky so point to what place you ask them to put the item. If you play these sorting games regularly, over time words like infront, behind, left and right will be second nature to them.
2. Picking out colours and objects
Open up 3 of the different bags, mix and spread them out in front of your baby. Ask them to pick the red apple or the orange scarf. Say things like "Can you find the purple eggplant"? If your little one is becoming confident, add more colours to the mix. Sing the Rainbow song and ask them to pick up an item associated with that colour as you both sing along.
3. Hiding and stacking
Open up 3 or more of the colour bags and ask your baby to hide the yellow ball under the purple scarf. Start with items that are in arm's reach as this is almost a 2 step instruction and could get your little one frustrated if they cant find that second item right away.
Stack the fruit up calling out all the names as they reach for them. The fruit will not stack well but seeing them have a go is worth it.
4. Lining up the items
There are so many items (21 to be exact), so working together, make a little circle with all the items. Do it in colours, or objects or how ever you like. Have fun jumping into the circle picking up a scarf as you jump in or out or sit in the circle with each other rolling the balls back and forth.
Something else fun and not as time consuming is lining up the balls and make a caterpillar. Same thing can be done with the scarves and fruits.
Christos loves making a fruit salad for the caterpillar.
5. Packing up
Make it fun and educational. Give your little one the calico bags one at a time and pass them the items that go into to the bags. Call out each items and colour as you go. Watching their little hands navigate this is so cute. Show them how to open and close each bag.
There is so many fun ways to interact with your little one using Colour Bags.
